Can I run a Radius server ON the SonicWall?

I'm looking for an option to provide a select group of people from the public with WiFi when they are in the vicinity of the building. Obviously this would require authentication. Additionally, we don't want a simple passphrase for WiFi, as it would eventually be shared throughout the city, and everyone would have access to that WiFi network. I figure a radius solution would do the job, but  there is no server to utilize

So my question is two-fold.

1: Can I run a "radius" server on the SonicWall?

2: What other ideas / options can you recommend?

Junkstore nat policy turns external ip to local ip. Can't auth

I love the junkstore feature on my tz500. I'm having an issue where when enabling junkstore on the firewall it turns incoming external ip address into local ones. Here is the scenario. If an external person sends me an email from say 92.10.1.2. Sonicwall sends this email to the junkstore (10.10.x.x) which is in my local network. After being processed it is sent to my internal email server. My email server sees this message coming from 10.10.x.x and thinks it is a local ip sending the message. I want it still to show the original address of 92.10.1.2.

Currently I can't trouble shoot email issues because all messages show they are coming from 10.10.x.x. I also have to disable user auth when sending messages from local ips. This is because all messages show they are come from local ip's.

What is the work around? I called sonicwall but the...

Sonicwall TZ300 VLANS and DHCP

Hi all,

Having an issue with a sonicwall tz300. I have a netgear fully managed switches (M4100) network with unifi wifi and the management vlan and vlan 44 working, with the sw handing out dhcp addresses. I have created vlan 20 for some fitness equipment that needs to dhcp addresses from the sonicwall. Traffic is hitting the sonicwall and it is dropping udp packets, which would indicate that there is some sort of firewall rule blocking the issuance of dhcp on vlan 20. I have been banging my head for 3 days on this.

192.168.0.x is the management vlan

192.168.2.x is the guest wifi on vlan 44

192.168.4.x is the fitness equipment on vlan 20

If I configure a static ip address and plug into a port on vlan 20, I cannot ping the router at 192.168.4.1. But, if I go to a server on the management vlan, I can ping the interface at 192.168.4.1. Clearly,...

Sonicwall VPN - No DNS Resolution

Hello, 

I've got a VPN setup on my TZ350 firewall. I can connect my remote clients to it successfully and even access resources using the servers' IP addresses. However I cannot browse to them by host name. 

When I run an ipconfig /all on the remote client I can see that the Sonicwall GVC adapter is using the DNS servers of the ISP (Comcast) that the TZ350 is using. In fact, all of the clients local to the firewall are getting those DNS server addresses from the built-in DHCP. But these DNS addresses don't appear to be working for the remote clients. 

I do not have another DNS server setup on the network. 

Any thoughts on how I can resolve this?

SonicWALL NetExtender Veifying User Error

I have just setup SSL VPN on a SOHO 250 Wireless.

I have created a local user (not LDAP), and added them to the SSL VPN Services Group.

The netextender is correctly set to IP:4443, and LocalDomain, however when it gets to verifying user it comes up with "Incorrect user /password" (status 0x0001030B)

The username, password and domain is the correct case (upper , lower).

HTTPS login is enabled on the WAN interface.

VPN access is set to LAN Subnets.

The SSL VPN rule ,I set to X0 which is the correct LAN port, and first added host of the LAN IP (192.168.1.1). I then tried range . (192.168.1.2-19.168.1.50)

I can't see what I have done wrong, or what I have missed. I hve reset the password to something simple which also did not work. I can login to the SW via the Webbrowser which prompts to download the NetExtender, so this also proves the...

RDP over SSLVPN not working GVPN works

werid issue. 

we are starting to give our users the net extender, as global vpn has been having some major issues connecting and staying stable. ill make another post about that lol. 

NetExt is working great. but i noticed something odd. 

if i have a end user on the GVPN, and it is working. I can MSRA or rDP to them no problem. 

if a user is on the Netextender (SSL VPN), my msra and rdp attemps fail almost instantly. 

is there something on the sonic wall i should configure ?

Sharing VPN connection to printer?

Ok, this is a strange request, I know, but just go with me on this journey.

We are exploring work-from-home scenarios, and we have an issue where our engineers design printer software/firmware, so they need the printer to talk to an in-house server. 

I was hoping there might be an easy way to connect to VPN with a laptop, and then share that connection with a 2nd nic to the printer.  Is that a thing?  Site-2-site might not be feasible with the number of users this has to work for.

Anyone run into this sort of thing before?

Facebook getting blocked through firewall

I'm not sure what's happening here - 

We have a sonicwall with content filtering. And group set up to give people certain access rights in AD.
We have a social media group, and we never had problems with it. But now Facebook, is sometimes loading, sometimes loading in HTML, and sometimes it just says can't access. 

I'm not sure what's causing the problem if facebook is an aloud URL the groups.

Where to get GlobalVPN licenses for older TZ100 units?

They are all registered on mysonicwall.com and some places use them as basic VPN firewalls, (no UTM) so now they want to add licenses, and I can't buy them for the older TZ100 models anymore via mysonicwall.com - anyone know where I can buy these at to manually enter a key for them on mysonicwall.com afterwards?

I have a iis server set up with port number 12466. I want all http and https traffic to forward to this port on iis server

I have created the firewall service for the port 12466 using the tcp protocol. I then set the firewall access rule

From wan
To lan
Source port any
Service port custom 12466 i have also tried http and https and have nat forward
Source is publip op
Destination is private
Rest is deault

Nat policy
Original source any
Translated address original
Original destination public ip address object
Translated destination private ip address object
Original service custom https and http
Translated service custom port 12466

I have read many places that i just need one nat rule. But saw other places i need more.
For the orginal service do i pick http/https and then translate to the custom 12466 or vice versa.

Windows 10 losing Sharepoint Drive after connecting to Sonic VPN

Connect to a remote location via Sonic VPN.  Windows loses Sharepoint drive and I have to reboot. IT on the remote location says SplitTunneling is enabled and it is not their issue.

Lenovo T490s - Sonicwall VPN Client interfering with Wifi speeds

Hey Everyone,

Because of what is happening in the world, we are asking more of our users to stay and work at home. Thus, we discovered a possible problem with Sonicwall VPN Client affecting Wifi download speeds for many of our users. As soon as the users are connected to the clients, their download speed drop to less than 1Mbit/s while the upload speed maintain at 100+Mbit/s. This has been happening to T480s and T490s and not limited to the same hardware specs.

Wireless Adapters - Intel Wireless-AC 9560. Tested drivers:

21.50.1.1 and 21.70.0

I am posting this question here to see if anyone out there is experiencing the same issue as ours and if possible, share their solutions.

As a workaround, we setup Windows VPN connection profiles via L2TP and this been working fine so far. I prefer to use Sonicwall VPN clients however.

With everyone shifting to working from home, reporting on VPN activity is top of mind for many overstretched IT teams right now.

To help, we're working on some additions to our IT reports to provide visibility into VPN connections and ensure remote infrastructure is holding up.Here's a sneak preview of the VPN sessions widget:



VPN connection start and end times, durations, active VPNs over time and failed VPN logins are all on the spec, but is there anything else you'd like to see?

All going well we'll have a new build of Fastvue Reporter for SonicWall with VPN reporting next week. It will also support the log events from SonicWall's SMA device.

If you want to help (like you need something else to do...), we're looking for log data to make sure we have good examples of all the weird and wonderful log events SonicWall is...

SonicWall IPsec error

Hi,

Some partner is upgrading IPSEC connection to out firm, because they changed firewall. Everything is same, encryption domain, phases configuration, only peer IP is different. So i want to create new IPsec connection beside old one which is still active, but when i click save i get following error: 

Error: IPsec Name: Address object HEREisOBJECTname overlaps in VPN1 policy

I created new remote network group with same IP ranges, but it says it overlaps.

NetExtender version 10.x

I was speaking to a colleague about an issue I had installing the NetExtender on a Lenovo machine the other day. Basically it would BSOD on every attempt to install even after upgraded to Win 10 1909 (I eventually used mobile connect as a workaround) .The version of NetExtender I was using was the latest one....I thought. I always check mysonicwall.com for new ones but as far as I could see under the NetExtender category, Version9.0.0.274 was the latest.

He mentioned he was using version 10.x and I could not find that anywhere on the NetExtender page. Long behold it's listed under the SMA 500v page. Why would they not list that under "NetExtender"? Is that version only for use with the 500v appliance?

Site-site vs Route based VPN tunnel for ERP app

Scenario:

My company (Site A) needs to allow a partner company (Site B) access to Site A ERP application for users in Site B.  Site A and B are separate companies and not in the same Active Directory forests, they have different ISP's and subnets etc.  Both companies have sonicwalls and static IP's.  Would a route based VPN with a static route to the destination ERP subnet in Site A be the way to go or would a site-site VPN?

How to get Duel Monitor setup working for Sonicwall Remote Connection

Hi all,

As I'm sure most are doing as well, I'm trying to set up remote access for most of my employees to go remote.  I'm doing this through the SSL side on Sonicwall.  I basically make a bookmark linked to their computer in house that they can connect to at home.

All of our computers are duel monitor and a few people also have duel monitor systems at home.  I can't seem to figure out what setting I have to adjust to make that happen.  I see there is an option for duel monitors but checking the box doesn't seem to do anything, so any help would be great.

WAN failover

I have a TZ300 running SonicEnhanced 5.5.4.4  very simple network with 2 WAN connections (X1, X2).  I want a ll traffic to go through X1 and auto failover to X2 if X1 is down.  Is this automatic when both WAN ports are configured or do I have to configure the auto failover?
