Still can't quite get failover in NSA 250 M firewall to work
Continuing with my monthlong quest to get a DSL modem to work with my Sonicwall -- I've had excellent help in two previous threads about getting it connected properly and configuring the modem for passthrough -- I've now arrived at the point where everything seems to be configured properly and functioning properly. I can confirm that
- A laptop with fixed IP settings identical to those of the firewall interface functions properly.
- You get linkup/available/target alive in the failover group.
- You can access the Sonicwall console over the web via the DSL fixed address.
But when I cut the primary line, the failover doesn't work. If you open a new browser window, you get the can't open message; if you open a command window and ping a commercial URL, you get the IP address after about eight seconds, but it always times out. Is there something...

Sonicwall Global VPN Mobile Device Support
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to get mobile devices to connect to a SonicWall Global VPN connection. I know there is an Android and iOS app for Sonicwall SSL VPN, however the Sonicwall Global VPN seems to be a different animal. When our vendor sold this firewall to the company a few years before I started, they sold them a pack of Global VPN licenses, not SSL so we have to use Global because of that. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Finding Connection Blocks in TZ400 Logs
Several of the sites we manage have all internet traffic blocked by default using CFS, and then specific sites are white listed to allow traffic. These sites have been manages this way with Sonicwalls for 20 years or so, however, with the complexity of sites today it gets more challenging. 20 years ago if they needed access to bankofamerica.com, you just put in bankofamerica.com and at most you might need to add another domain for the image hosting. Today you can find yourself chasing down multiple domains for scripts, etc. I can do it using developer tools, but that won't work with apps. Also, I'm not always the one in the office and I'd like to be able to identify the blocks in the Sonicwall logs.
Here's the challenge. CFS will identify a basic http site block in the logs. With DPI-SSL enabled it'll even log a basic https block....

Sonicwall Arp Questions
Sonicwall uses virtual IP of router as the gateway to another subnet. Packet Monitor shows ARP Request being dropped by the physical IP of the router.
I should make the sonicwall trust the physical ip arp request right?
3 Cisco Routers on my network, all have a LAN IP... has anyone ran into special situations with multiple routers behind your sonicwall?

Sonicwall HA configuration with 2 ISPs.
Hi,
I'm planning to configure sonicwall in HA mode in my current network setup. I'm aware how it will work with single ISP, however I have a backup ISP for failover.
How will I setup the firewalls in HA mode with 2 ISPs and how the cabling connection will work?

Sonicwall - appflow logs
Good day,
We have recently put in a sonicwall tz300. I am trying to see real-time internet traffic. I have enabled appflow to local collector and real-time data collection. Under Appflow Logs>Users I am only showing myself and "unknown" as a user. "Unknown" contains all users I guess. Am I able to get this separated out by actual users?

SonicWall Global VPN
I have a customer with an older SonicWall and we used to be able to use NetExtender to get into their network but it seems there was an issue with an update and it quit working and then they didnt need to use it anymore so forgot about it. Now they have a need again and found Global Sonicwall VPN, I nstalled it but cannot get it to connect - any basic things I can check? I did a whatismyip.com and the IP address is the same as what we used before

Redundant WAN Switches TZ 600 HA Active/Passive
Hello all,
I am tasked with seeing if it is possible to configure and setup redundant WAN switches with our TZ 600 active/passive firewalls.
We currently have 2 WAN connections that are delivered from FIOS and Comcast with static IPs. Those connections plug into a single managed WAN switch on their own respective VLANs and then one connection goes from the switch to the main firewall and another connection to the spare/passive firewall.
We are looking to remove a point of failure by adding a second wan switch. and connecting each switch to both firewalls but I am unsure if this is something that can be done with 2 SonicWall TZ 600s.
Here is a basic diagram of what I am trying to accomplish.

Cannot reset sonic wall
Had one of my sonic walls become unresponsive today so I figured I would just reset and reload the settings.
I held the button and put it into safe mode then went to 192.168.168.168
I’ve tried booting with factory default settings a number of times I’ve even tried with an older firmware.
It seems to reboot just fine with the new firmware but I can’t connect on the .168 or on any other address that it had in the past.
Ideas? Hoping I’m missing something super simple here.

Do you Geo IP or not ? For some obvious countries it's fine. Becoming more of nuisance when I have Ireland, Netherlands blocked and needing to whitelist IP's.

Hello. I'm looking to upgrade the speed of my optical internet and my account rep says I'll need a layer 3 router. The subnet would be /30. I currently have a SonicWall TZ600 as our gateway/firewall. Will this do?

DHCP relay for VPN
Used to use DHCP on the firewall and all was fine. Now got an internal DHCP on the LAN so I turned off the one on the firewall. Global VPN clients can't get an IP address, it's not being relayed. Tried following instructions about setting this up through IP Helper but I get stuck at the Relay Policy. Tried 'Interace X0' and 'Zone VPN' in the FROM field and 'Firewalled Subnets' in the TO field. But I get this red error:
Error: From Zone: Group must contain address objects of type HOST
Not sure what the FROM and TO should be. I would assume it would be from VPN to X0 but no.

Sonicwall Analyzer 8 postgresql log filling up

tz200w=68mbps>speedtest but get 220mbps+ when tested w.out sonicwall (direct
hi, got a sonicwall tz200w thats only gets 50-60mbpos on speedtest.net, but when i take sonicwall out of picture, and wire directly to time warner modem speedtest.net shows 217mbps down...!
i went into network interfaces and checked the wan and confirmed it was auto-negotiate, and also tested by forcing the 100mbps, same slow speeds...
so, what is the maximum throughput for the tz200, can if got above 100mbps? if so how can i make it so.

DNS Proxy not working from VPN
I have a TZ300W configured with a DNS Proxy, Split DNS configured for to head office DNS server (there is no DNS server at the site with the TZ300W; head office is connected via site-to-site VPN on the TZ300W), and GlobalVPN (for local users who need to access the site, but not head office.) DHCP clients are pointed to the DNS Proxy on the TZ300W, and the GlobalVPN service is using the LAN DHCP for IP address assignments.
The DNS Proxy works from the LANs but not when connected via GlobalVPN. Running nslookup from the VPN client results in a timeout. TZ300W can be ping'd from the VPN client, and everything on the LAN is accessible by IP address (e.g. on-site NAS.)
My first guess is that the firewall is blocking the VPN clients from reaching the DNS Proxy, but I've created an access rule to allow it but to no effect. I went so far as to...

How can a hyper-V machine have internet when the host (same DNS server) doesn't?
I have been trying to get the failover feature of my Sonicwall fully operational for more than a month. I’m almost there, but a most confounding problem has arisen. When I disconnect the primary internet connection from the Sonicwall, most of the machines on the network start using the secondary connection. But the domain server (also the DNS, with forwarding information properly configured) as well as the Exchange server have no internet connection. Teamviewer shows a disconnect on both of them. If you try to browse on either machine, you get “cannot connect” with Edge and “cannot display page” with Chrome. If you press the troubleshooting button, it says that it can’t find anything wrong, although it displays a yellow exclamation mark.
