Website blocked from overseas

I have a user on vacation in the Philippines trying to access ezdrivema.com but he is being blocked. I checked the site onhttps://www.site24x7.com/check-website-availability.htmlin addition to browsing to it myself, and it is accessible from the U.S. and Canada but apparently not from other countries. I ran a tracert from his computer as well and it made it as far as Qwest in Denver, CO before being blocked. I'm aware that some sites, like HBO and Netflix, are region specific, but it seems odd that ezdrivema.com would be. Maybe for security, or due to GPDR?

This is not important, the user can easily wait until he gets back from vacation to do what he needs to on that site, but for my own curiosity, are there options for bypassing regional blocks? I've heard VPN allows you to do this, but this user has a Sonicwall Global VPN client and...

Interpreting and Dealing with Gateway AV Alerts

I have been receiving lately numerous alerts via GAV that it has been blocking Agent.FL Trojan.

Here is an example of one of the alerts:

12/19/2018 20:47:36 - 809 - Security Services - Alert - 65.206.58.141, 80, X1 - 192.168.2.101, 60716, X0 - Gateway Anti-Virus Alert: (Cloud Id: 68259406) Agent.FL (Trojan) blocked.

Far as I can tell, many of the target IPs are Google.com. The source IPs are various PC's and even servers on our network.

Now, I am fairly sure that no one is infected by anything, and I have a feeling these are false positives. But where I am lost, is what can I do to determine WHAT is triggering this error?

Thank you!

Hey all,

I have site A that has a local IP of 192.168.1.x (I can not change this LAN ip) I would like to create a site to site vpn to our main office but our phone system is using the 192.168.1.x lan so is there a way to change the site a lan ip when it  the vpn connects?  So perhaps it hits our main office sonicwall and this give it another IP?

Thanks in advance and merry xmas one and all.

UVerse, BGW210, Sonicwall SOHO

UVerse, static (sorry - sticky) IP addresses.

Cascade router - Off

Passthrough - Off

Public Subnet - set, checked and double-checked.

UVerse router internal IP = 192.168.1.254.

Sonicwall internal IP = 192.168.2.1

This works...for about 6 hours. Then the workstations lose connectivity.

This does NOT (apparently) happen when the Sonicwall is out of the loop.

WTH?

Can you have a standby internet provider on an NSA sonicwall?

I have an NSA 250 M sonicwall with a WLAN connection to my cable modem connected to interface X1.     I also have a DSL cable modem which is going unused.  It would be great if I could attach it to one of the two unused X interfaces on the box and have it function as a standby for the current connection if it ever goes out.  Is this a possibility, or would somebody have to make changes to the settings during an outage before it would work?  Are there any articles on this topic?

SonicWall NSA4600 Hashing algorithm used to cypher local user's password

I have a SonicWall NSA 4600 running version 6.5.1.3-12 and I have a couple of questions.

1. We created a local user called localtest, the password is stored locally in the configuration file and that password is hashed. I need to know what is the hashing algorithm been used to store the passwords locally.

user localtest

no force-password-change
no account-lifetime
no one-time-password
no email-address

member-of Everyone

2. We changed the default administrator name from admin to swalladmin and we changed the default password. When I check the configuration file I don't see the password for the user, not hashed...

RMM agent interfering with SonicWALL SSO

HI all,

I have multiple clients that are using a SonicWALLfirewall with SSO to implement CFS content filtering. All is configured properly and had it doubled checked with SonicWALL tech support as well.

All the computer that we manage have our RMM agent installed on them as well. we currently use Connectwise Automate.

Here is the problem that I'mfacing, the SSO agent on the server is detecting via DC security logs, that the current logged on user is Administrator, and not the correct logged on user. that is a big problem as the users are not getting theirCFS policies. In many cases, the administrators have either no internet access or unlimited access. the users have very unique CFS policies that need to get applied to them as this is a school.

I'msure this issue is not unique to me, however, I cannot find anything online about this and...

SonicWall TZ300 Log Entries notification

I started receiving notifications from my SonicWall TZ300 stating that the log entries are at 75% of maximum.  Do I need to go in and delete old entries, or will the entries start rolling old for new when it hits 100%?  I am managing my first SonicWall, and am learning it, but can find nothing relating to this notification.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sonicwall NetExtender keeps randomly disconnecting for users.

We have a few users that use the VPN alot. They've mentioned in the past that sometimes when they are on it, it can randomly disconnect and they would have to restart the machine just to get it reconnected. Obviously, this is a pain when you have stuff open from the network when it disconnects and always has to reboot. Previously, everyone was using version 7.5 but have since upgraded to 8.6.265 - but they are still disconnecting.

Any good way to troubleshoot this?

DROPPED, Drop Code: 679(Packet dropped - connection to be closed)

Hi All,

In our company we have severall locations which are connected via sonicwall firewalls. All locations have a VPN tunnel to our main firewall. I see since a while that specific traffic is blocked on the firewall in our main office. This traffic is coming from our accesspoints (MERU / FORTINET). on the remote locations The switch port where the AP is connected is constantly flipping with STP. When we do a failover from primary to secondary firewall the issue is solved for a few days. But it will come back.

The Accesspoints getting an DHCP address from the local DHCP server, and the wireless controller is in our main office.

On our sonicwall 6600 packets are dropped after a while with this error code:
in:X1*(hw-crypto), out:--, DROPPED, Drop Code: 679(Packet dropped - connection to be closed), Module Id: 25(network), (Ref.Id:...

GMS not getting logs from an acquired NSA firewall

Hi, I'm kinda lost, one of my colleague has setup GMS for us to get some reports from logs. The others are showing data under "Reports" tab but for some reason one of the NSA firewall doesn't show any data under Reports. Though it was successfully acquired but it's just no data showing up.

I double checked the log settings on the NSA fw and it is pointing to the GMS IP. Any clue to this issue?

Thanks

Sonicwall DHCP option for certain Devices

$

Does anyone know of a way (i believe its vendor specific details) that I can assign a range of IP Addresses via DHCP scope ON THE SONICWALL (not using a server) to a specific type of device?

For example, If the specified device is a computer that Dell makes products with MAC addresses starting with ( F8:DB:88) is there anyway I can either wildcard mac addresses to go to a certain range of DHCP scope, or if I understood correctly, route them to a specific DHCP scope or IP range based on Vendor Specific Information?

How to get VPN back up after power outage?

$

This one I feel like I should be able to fix, but it has me stymied. We had a power outage a few days ago and it messed a lot of things up. Most were fixed by reboots, obviously.

The VPN though... No clients could connect. Sonicwall NSA 2600 being used as a VPN appliance. At first, I couldn't even get to it from the inside. I connected a laptop to its LAN port: traffic is OK, Laptop connected to the switch: no traffic! So clients could not authenticate because the LDAP is on the network side. I changed the D'Link switch's port settings to trunk, untagged, VLAN 192. Success! Now clients can authenticate!

Sonicwall sees the network now, clients see the Sonicwall and authenticate OK... but have no access to any LAN side devices. So they can connect, but it does them no good.

What did I miss?

Can't get "available" and "target alive" for 2nd interface in default LB group

Thanks to the assistance that I received with my recent initial inquiry into having a standby internet provider on my NSA Sonicwall, I was able to familiarize myself with the requirements and straightforward installation steps in short order. I was following the official video as I attempted to complete the process.

I first connected a laptop directly to the DSL modem, made sure it was working, collected the ipconfig /all data, connected the modem to the X3 port, and used the console to set the configuration (see below).

I set the probe settings for both interfaces identically (see below), as per the video instructions. Everything went well for the main interface, but the new one will not get a ping response, reporting a status of “failover” and “target unavailable” for both targets.I can’t find any documentation or forum threads...

Some devices not getting registered in TZ300 DHCP

Hi,

I have an issue with our DHCP server on the Sonicwall TZ300. We have around 15 clients connecting successfully through an unmanaged switch (PCs, TV, Arduino)...some devices like our doorbell and alarm system however are not connecting (obtaining local IP lease). We tried connecting this same devices with the same settings through a common Linksys router and all works fine. Anyone has any idea where to look for the cause?

We also tried assigning the devices a static IP but doesn’t work either.

Thanks in advance!

SonicWall SSL VPN: Can connect over WAN, but only ping a few addresses... HELP!

Hello guys,

About a month ago, I took over as the sysadmin for a little state government facility and I'm at a bit of a loss on one particular issue (so far). The previous sysadmin retired and steadily ignored more and more requests and problems leading up to his retirement, so the infrastructure is terribly out of date. (I could rant about his poor decisions and neglect for dozens of paragraphs, but I'll try to stick to the topic at hand...)

Remote access today is done using the global VPN client on a 15 year old SonicWall, over a secondary internet connection, broadcast wirelessly from an antenna, provided by our ISP. As you might expect, it has issues. Most of the time it causes more frustration for end-users than anything. The problem has been on-going for at least a year. So one of my primary goals is to work out a better method.
