VOIP choppy, Sonicwall UDP flooding

Hello all,

I know this is a common topic and there are quite a few posts, from way back in time, too about this subject.

I have been having intermittent trouble with VOIP calls for some time, apparently randomly affected by other traffic.

Our firewall is a Sonicwall TZ210 SonicOS v.5.9, on which I have tweaked most of the VOIP controls, and the bandwidth ones.

The last attempt, that appears to have been the most succesful, was to switch off the UPD flooding filter. The default settings are 200 packets/sec.

This looked unlikely to me as:

a. I don't expect a single phone call to produce more than 200 packets per sec. 10msec VOIP packets = 100 packets/sec.

b. I don't expect this setting to be global. More than 200 UDP packets per sec from anywhere is a flood?

c. Any flooding filter would drop packets, but all my monitoring and testing tools say...
